Fifth Annual City-Wide Scavenger Hunt

May 13, 2024

Dive into the depths with Beaumont Library’s fifth annual City-wide Scavenger Hunt! From May 8 to June 30, residents of Beaumont will have the chance to embark on a journey through their city inspired by Captain Nemo, the legendary captain of the enigmatic Nautilus submarine, and his descendants.

This year’s adventure is based on Rick Riordan’s 2021 novel "Daughter of the Deep". This reimagined continuation of Jules Verne’s classic "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and its lesser-known sequel "The Mysterious Island" revolves around Nemo’s descendant, Ana Dakkar. Ana is a 15-year-old freshman at Harding-Pencraft Academy, renowned for producing the finest marine scientists, naval warriors, and underwater explorers of their era. As Ana grapples with the loss of her parents, a tragic incident unveils a longstanding rivalry with the Land Institute. Alongside her classmates and animal companions, Ana delves into the perils of the deep, uncovering family secrets and assuming leadership amidst mounting tensions between Harding-Pencraft and the Land Institute.

Beginning May 8th, clues related to "Daughter of the Deep" will be posted on the library’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) and website (www.beaumontlibrary.com) every Tuesday and Thursday. Solve each riddle to figure out a location in Beaumont, find a poster, and scan the QR code on the poster to enter a prize draw at the end of the Scavenger Hunt.

"Daughter of the Deep" is available at the library for those eager to join Ana and her classmates in their exploration of the ocean's depths.
