Summer Reading Club

Summer is here, and the Bibliothèque de Beaumont Library is buzzing with excitement as it kicks off reading programs for all ages. Whether you're a child eager to dive into adventures, a teen seeking challenges, or an adult looking for new literary experiences, there's something for everyone at the Library.

The library invites all young Beaumontonians to join Canada's largest bilingual summer reading program, the TD Summer Reading Club. It's all about encouraging kids to read throughout the summer while having loads of fun. Participants can sign up at the library or online at the TD Summer Reading Club. Each child receives a free activity notebook to track their reading progress, along with exciting challenges and quizzes available at the library. The goal is to keep kids reading all summer and to have fun while doing it!

In addition to the TD SRC, Beaumont Library offers youth-focused challenges and activities designed to spark creativity and engagement. From robots and circuits to boardgames and button-making, there is no chance to be bored. Registration is online but drop-ins are also welcome.

This year we’re running a reading challenge just for grown-ups! Adults will be challenged to read something new with our Wheel of Reading. There’s no need to register and the steps are simple. Spin the Wheel in the library, read something that matches your spin and enter to win one of two Daisy Chain Book Co. Gift Cards (draw at the end of July and August).

Each summer the Library runs Reading Buddies, a registered program that partners younger readers (K-gr. 5) with “Big Buddies” (gr. 5-12) to encourage reading skills throughout the summer. Little and Big Buddies meet once a week to read one-on-one and do activities. Reading together keeps kids from falling behind over the summer break and gives the Big Buddies valuable volunteering experience. Both Little and Big Buddies register through the library’s website.

Join the Fun at the Beaumont Library!

Keep an eye out for our Summer Coordinators Francis and Nam, who will be out and about with BB the Bibliobike. They will be visiting local parks and the Farmers Market with stories, crafts, and games.

The Beaumont Library promises a summer filled with books, fun, and community spirit. Get ready to unleash your imagination and embark on a reading journey like no other!
