General Information

Bibliotheque de Beaumont Library is a member of Yellowhead Regional Library.  We are also a member of  The Regional Automation Consortium (TRAC) and of The Alberta Library (TAL).    Our participation in The Alberta Library gives our patrons access to 15 million items in over 230 Alberta libraries.

All residents in the Town of Beaumont, and Leduc County can have access to these services using their Beaumont Library Card.


Membership Fees

 

 

Family: $10.00 per year

Individual: $6.00 per year

Student: $1.00 per year

Seniors: (60+) $1.00 per year


Loan Periods and Allowances

Books, magazines, CDs and audio books have a three week loan period.  DVDs and videos are a one week loan period.
Unless your item has been requested by another patron, you may renew it two times.  Renewals can be done in a number of ways:

  • Phone: 780-929-BOOK (2665).
  • Bring the item in for renewal to the circulation desk.
  • Renew the item yourself at one of our catalogue stations at the library using TRACpac.
  • Renew online using your barcode and pin number on the TRACpac site.
  • Forgot what you signed out?  Visit TRACpac  and review your items checked out by inputting your library barcode and pin number (the last 4 digits of your phone number).

    Members may have up to 50 items from TRAC libraries at one time.


    Inter-library Loans and Holds

    If an item in our database is signed out to another patron, you may place a hold on that item.  If you would like to have an item brought in that is in another library in our database, you may place a hold on the item and it will be sent to our library for you.  To make such a request, you may:

    • Ask staff to place the hold to inter-library loan request over the telephone at (780) 929-BOOK (2665)
    • Place it yourself on our computer catatlogue stations located in the library/ask a staff member at the library
    • Place the item on hold at home online by visiting TRACpac

    Can’t find an item in our database?  We can assist you by placing a request online using TAL online, please contact our staff in order to place an Alberta Library request.


    Returning Items

     You may return items during regular business hours in our Book Return slot at the circulation desk at the front of the library.

    Books and other materials can also be returned after hours in our book drop box located at the northeast side of the building.


    Fines

     A due date bookmark is provided at the time of borrowing, if you have not received a due date you can check online TRACpac.  Please take notice of this date so that you may either return items before due date or renew if necessary.  Fines are $0.10/day for books, audiobooks, CDs and magazines.  DVDs and videos are $1.00/day per item.  If your account is in arrears of $10.00 in fines, your membership is temporarily suspended until the fines are paid.

    You will be notified by phone or email once a week for the first two weeks of the overdue items.  Overdue notices are sent out 14 days after the material becomes overdue.  One more notice will be sent if the material is not returned.   This overdue notice letter will state that if they do not returen their overdue item(s) the overdues will be set to “lost” and they will be charged the full price for it.  If the item is returned after it has been set to lost, the patron will be charged the maximum fine for the item ($10.00), regardless of when it was due back.

    Damaged Items Policy

     1. If an item is returned damaged and must be withdrawn from the collection, the patron will be charged the full price of that item.

    2. If an item is returned damaged but can be fixed, the patron will be charged a $5.00 fine.

    3. A patron that returns an item that is missing a barcode will be charged a $2.00 fine.

    4. If a CD or DVD case is returned damaged, the patron will be charged a $3.00 fine.  Should a CD or DVD be returned without its proper case, the patron will be notified and have one week to return the correct case.  If the case is not returned within the week, it will be considered lost and the patron will be charged a $3.00 fine.

     


    Internet and Computer Services

    There 6 internet stations, two equipped with Word processing and internet access. We also offer free WIFI as well.


    Copy and Fax Services

    •  Black & white copies are $0.10 per page.
    • Colour are $0.50 per page.
    • Printing from computer are $0.25 per page.
    • Faxing costs are, $1.00 for the first page and $0.50 for any following pages for local faxes.  Long distance faxing is $2.00 for first page and $0.50 for any following pages.
